Fastframe

FastFrame is a two-dimensional determinate and indeterminate structural frame analysis program. It is designed primarily for structural engineers analyzing and designing  frames for static loading combinations. This  simple and powerful program will let you analyze and design two-dimensional structural frames with ease.

The program is free from enercalc and my only gripe is that I can't save user defined section properties

For simple steel beams using standard sections another useful free program is Simple Beam Design from Fastrak. This can be obtained from CSC (UK) Ltd Below is a screen shot from the program. The link now redirects you to a different page. You will need to contact the company to see if the program is still available.
