Don't Panic

A few things to check if you are having problems filming with your camcorder. They are based on the Sony PD 150 but  most will apply to other camcorders.

No Picture

Is there a battery attached?

Make sure the camera is switched on or not turned to VCR

Is the battery charged or flat?

Is the lens cap still on?

Are you zoomed in on a dark object?

 

Dark Picture

Is the aperture set too small?

Is the shutter speed on a high setting?

Is the filter wheel on neutral density?

Is the LCD brightness turned down?

 No Sound

Are the head phone levels set too low?

If you are on manual sound, are the sound levels set too low?

Are the mic inputs set to - line, mic or mic att?

Are the mic input set to +48V off?

There could be a problem with the headphones/ microphone/ cable
